KL Rahul 2.0: Finding Consistency at the Top

KL Rahul 2.0 is in full flow, having come into his own following the retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. He led India’s charge in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England, scoring 532 runs in five Tests, and continued his form at home, hitting his 11th Test century on Day 2 of the first match against the West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
After Rahul brought up his 10th Test ton as an opener, former India coach Ravi Shastri addressed the misconception that Rahul has been shuffled across the batting order. “Since 2016, Rahul has opened in 94 out of 110 innings, so it’s a misconception that he has moved up and down the order,” Shastri said on commentary before lunch on Day 2.
He added, “So, 90 percent of the time, he has opened. It’s because of the mix in white-ball cricket that people get a little confused.”
Rahul fails to go big

By stumps, India had extended their lead to 286 runs, with Jadeja unbeaten on 104 and Washington Sundar on 9. Earlier, Mohammed Siraj’s four-wicket haul had bowled out the West Indies for 162 in their first innings.
