Rohit Sharma leads the Indian cricket fraternity in praising the Indian Armed Forces on X.

Rohit Sharma, the Indian cricket community took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their support for the Indian Armed Forces. Amid heightened military tensions between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor, the Indian cricket fraternity extended their praise for the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force on social media. Active cricketers, former players, and Indian commentators shared heartfelt messages on X, celebrating the valor of the country’s forces.

The context of this support stems from the April 22 attack by a Pakistan-based terrorist group on civilians in Kashmir. A group of terrorists opened fire on tourists in Pahalgam, resulting in the tragic loss of 26 lives. The nation was shaken by the terror attack, which prompted the Indian Armed Forces to initiate Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist camps within Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK).

This military action has heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, particularly in the northwest regions. The impact of these tensions has extended to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, with the May 8 match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Dharamsala being halted midway due to security concerns. As a result, IPL 2025 has been suspended for a week.

The BCCI has decided to postpone IPL 2025 and will make a decision on rescheduling the remaining matches in the coming days. So far, 58 out of the scheduled 74 games have been completed, including the abandoned match between PBKS and DC in Dharamsala. This means that 16 matches are still to be played in the tournament.

Gujarat Titans (GT) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) currently occupy the top two spots on the points table with 16 points each. Rohit Sharma, Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have been officially eliminated from the race for the playoffs.
