Mumbai Indians have competed in four Qualifier 2 matches in the IPL so far. As one of the oldest franchises in the Indian Premier League, Mumbai Indians (MI) have been part of the tournament since its very first season in 2008. They are also among the most successful teams in IPL history.
MI hold the joint record for the most IPL titles, having won the championship five times. They share this record with Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who have also claimed five trophies. Across 18 seasons, including the ongoing IPL 2025, MI have reached the playoffs 11 times.
Led by Hardik Pandya, the team secured the fourth spot in the IPL 2025 points table to qualify for the playoffs. After a commanding 20-run victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) in Qualifier 1, they are set to face Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Qualifier 2. The winner of this match will advance to the final against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Mumbai Indians have significant experience in IPL playoffs. They have also appeared in the Qualifier 2 stage four times in previous tournaments. With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at MI’s record in the IPL Eliminator matches.
Mumbai Indians’ Record in IPL Qualifier 2 Matches

Mumbai Indians began the chase with determination as Suryakumar Yadav smashed 61 runs and Tilak Varma added a solid 43.
Despite their efforts, the rest of the batting lineup crumbled under pressure. Gujarat Titans’ bowler Mohit Sharma delivered a match-winning performance, claiming a superb five-wicket haul. Mumbai Indians were eventually bowled out for 171, falling short by 62 runs and ending their IPL 2023 campaign with a disappointing defeat. GT advanced to the final with a commanding all-round display.
