Glenn McGrath Backs Australia for a 5-0 Whitewash in Ashes 2025 Against England

Glenn McGrath Predicts Ashes 2025 Whitewash for Australia. Legendary fast bowler Glenn McGrath has once again made a bold call ahead of the Ashes 2025, backing Australia to completely whitewash England on home soil.

The former Aussie spearhead, who claimed 563 Test wickets in his illustrious career, has stuck to his long-running tradition of predicting a dominant series win for the hosts. Even before the 2023 Ashes — which ended 2-2 with Australia retaining the urn — Glenn McGrath had forecast a clean sweep.

England’s recent struggles only fuel his confidence. They haven’t won a Test match in Australia since the 2010–11 series and haven’t lifted the Ashes since 2015. With skipper Ben Stokes sidelined by injury and absent during the India tour, England’s vulnerabilities have been further exposed — making Glenn McGrath prediction all the more ominous.

“5-0” – McGrath Tips Australia for Ashes Whitewash in 2025

Former Australian fast-bowling great Glenn McGrath has boldly predicted a clean sweep for his side in the 2025 Ashes, tipping a 5-0 win over England.

England’s reliance on star all-rounder Ben Stokes was evident in their narrow six-run defeat to India at The Oval, and they’ll be desperate to end their long winless run in Australia when Stokes returns for the high-stakes series.

“It’s rare for me to make a prediction, isn’t it? But I can’t go past 5-0. I’m very confident in our team. When you’ve got Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Nathan Lyon firing in home conditions, it’s going to be tough for England. With their track record here, it’ll be interesting to see if they can even win a Test,” Glenn McGrath told BBC Radio 5 Live.

Australia dominated the last home Ashes in 2021–22 with a 4-0 victory, and Cummins’s side has been near-unbeatable on home turf—winning 11, drawing two, and losing only twice in their last 15 Tests.

Glenn McGrath also warned about the threats of Joe Root and Harry Brook. While Root has amassed 892 Test runs in Australia with nine fifties, he is yet to score a century there, averaging 35.68 compared to his career mark of 51.29. “This series will be a big one for Root. He’s never managed a hundred here, so he’ll be hungry. Brook’s the one I’ve enjoyed watching—he plays his game fearlessly. The Aussies will need to get him early,” Glenn McGrath said.

He also pointed to England’s aggressive top order: “Ben Duckett takes the game on, Zak Crawley will be keen to improve on past tours. It’s England’s top and middle order against Australia’s quicks and Lyon—that’s going to be the real battle.”
