Batting first, England posted a competitive total of 387 runs. Joe Root led the charge with a brilliant century, scoring 104 runs off 199 balls. Supporting him were Jamie Smith, who scored a solid 51, and Brydon Carse, who contributed an impressive 56, helping England surpass the 380-run mark. For India, Jasprit Bumrah was the standout bowler, claiming five wickets—his first five-wicket haul at Lord’s.

However, India’s chase faltered dramatically. They lost four wickets in the final hour of day four and struggled again in the first session of day five, losing five more wickets to be reduced to 112/8. Ravindra Jadeja stood firm with an unbeaten 61, fighting alongside Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. Despite their valiant effort, India were all out for 170, falling short by 22 runs as England celebrated a hard-fought win.
