Punjab Kings targeted three key players in the IPL 2025 auction but failed to secure any. They lost out on a versatile opener due to a bidding war, couldn’t match the price for a quality all-rounder, and were outbid for an Indian wicketkeeper-batter, ultimately missing valuable additions.
1. Devon Conway
Punjab Kings targeted Devon Conway aggressively during the IPL 2025 auction, engaging in a bidding war with Chennai Super Kings (CSK). However, CSK ultimately secured Conway for INR 6.25 crores.
PBKS missed out on a versatile opener capable of handling spin and adapting to various batting tempos, forcing them to withdraw from the race.
2. Will Jacks
Will Jacks was another key target for Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 auction but was ultimately priced out of their reach. The bidding war began between Mumbai Indians (MI) and PBKS, with MI pushing the price to INR 5.25 crores. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) chose not to use their RTM, allowing MI to secure him at a reasonable price. Despite their large budget, PBKS missed the opportunity to acquire another quality player.
3. Ishan Kishan
Ishan Kishan was highly sought after during the IPL 2025 auction, with Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Sunrisers Hyderabad vying for his services. PBKS remained in the race until the INR 11 crore bid but pulled out when SRH raised the price to INR 11.25 crores.
Despite being in line to acquire a solid Indian wicketkeeper-batter, PBKS missed out due to the inflated price, failing to secure another quality player.
